Kenyan volleyball clubs will have to wait a little longer for the return of the African continental crown after the top two clubs Kenya Prison and Kenya Pipeline failed to make it to the finals of the African championships in Monastir Tunisia last weekend.

Five time champions Kenya Prison finished in third place while seven time champions Kenya Pipeline added another year to their 12 year hiatus.

Kenya surrendered the African crown in 2013 when Prison lost to Algeria’s GSP having won it for over three years in a row. No Kenyan team has won the crown since then.

The two teams met in the quarter finals of the competition with Prison edging Pipeline in a five set thriller.

Host team Carthage of Tunisia beat Shams of Egypt to clinch the 2017 title while Prison dismissed Al Ahly 3-2 to win Bone.
