Prison, GSU Victorious as Africa Men volleyball start

Kenya men volleyball clubs General Service Unit and Kenya Prisons began their Africa volleyball club championship campaigns with victories as the competition commenced in Cairo Egypt on Tuesday.

GSU surprised many on Tuesday as they hammered Olympique of Algeria 3-1 (20-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-17) in Pool D while Kenya Prisons beat Redskin (Lesotho) 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) in Pool A.

At the same time, defending Champions Ahly started their journey in the 2018 Men's African club championship with a straight sets victory over Nemostar of Uganda in straight sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-14) in Pool A, while Smouha of Egypt hardly overcame FAP of Cameroon 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 28-30, 28-26, 15-12) in the day's only tiebreaker in Pool C.

Other winners are Espoir (COD), Swehly (LBA), Swimblue (SEY), Aviation (EGY) in Pool B, Ahly Beni Ghazi (LBA), Police (BEN) in Pool C, Port (CMR), and Al Guish (EGY) in Pool D.
