Poor lighting mars Floodies quarterfinal fixtures

Poor lighting mars Floodies quarterfinal fixtures

The decision to call off these fixtures came after the allocated match officials declined to continue officiating the matches on safety grounds.

The opening day of the pre-season Impala Floodlit tournament was marred by floodlight failure that led to the postponement of two quarterfinal fixtures.

The third clubs quarterfinal clash between hosts Impala and Nondescripts was halted at halftime with Nondies leading Impala 15-0.

This floodlight failure also affected the final match of the day between defending champions KCB and Kenya Harlequin.

The decision to call off these fixtures came after the allocated match officials declined to continue officiating the matches on safety grounds.

A statement from the tournament organizers read in part, “Due to a power outage which couldn't guarantee our players' safety, we have had to postpone the second half of the Nondies- Impala match and the KCB v Kenya Harlequin match to Wednesday from 5PM at the Impala Club, entrance will be free.”

Earlier on, Blak Blad had edged Strathmore Leos 22-19 in the first club quarterfinal clash of the day before Menengai Oilers defeated city rivals Nakuru 26-13.

The Nondies –Impala clash will continue from the second half on Wednesday, paving way for the KCB-Quins quarterfinal encounter.
