Police man Birir confident of victory against Sharks
National team assistant captain and Kenya Police skipper Richard Birir targets maximum points against Green Sharks when the two teams meet in the men hockey premier league on Saturday at the City Park stadium.
The two teams met in the Vaisakhi hockey tournament title in April with Police edging out Sharks 1-0 to become champions.
Birir believes the match will be tough since both teams are undefeated going to the encounter but said Police are well prepared on how to handle such must win matches, “As Police men we have the virtue of endurance, Perseverance and determination. Sharks is a very good organized team as well who play unique style of hockey and we will tackle them accordingly.” He said while adding that his team targets to win the league with a new undefeated record that will entail managing wins in the remaining matches including against Sharks.
“There are tough matches we are yet to play. We only need to play our hockey and press all the way to the last match.” He said.
Police lead the table standings with 18 points while Sharks are in fourth with half the points.
