Kenya Police FC kicked off their new Kenyan Premier League season with a draw against Tusker FC, who came from behind to equalize late in the match. Police who had not played any match yet this season due to CAF Confederations Cup fixture started the match strong with new talisman Jesse Were keeping the Tusker defense on high alert.
It wasn’t until the 17th minute that midfielder Marvin Nabwire capitalized on a cross from the right side and put the law enforcers ahead with a goal. Despite constant pressure, Police couldn’t secure a second goal and the teams went to half time with a 1 – 0 scoreline.
The second half was quieter with Tusker goalkeeper Joseph Okoth denying Jesse Were twice. Police midfielder Tyson Otieno almost scored a stunning long-range goal but was denied by the goal post. However, the situation changed when Kenyan international Kenneth Muguna went off injured leading to a loss of control of the game by Police. Tusker seized the opportunity and substitute Lawrence Luvanda equalized taking advantage of a defense mishap in the 84th minute.
