Police FC are the champions of the Elite Pre-Season tournament after edging out Nairobi City Stars 2-0 in the final played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday. David Simiyu and Marvin Nabwire scored for Police, as they bounced off the eight-team tournament top of the pile.
The tournament started last Tuesday and involved eight teams; six from the Premier League, one from the Super League and another from the Division two League.
After a goalless first half, the nets opened in the second half, with Police the most clinical to clinch the victory.
In the first half, it was Police also who had the best chance from the penalty spot, but Duke Abuya struck the crossbar after Francis Kahata was axed inside the box by keeper Steve Njung’e.
City Stars’ best chance of the game was in the 14th minute when Peter Opiyo sent Samuel Kapen through, but the new signing saw his effort from the right saved by the keeper.
