Kenyan international Paul Were has made a return to Greece, joining third tier side Egaleo 1931 and he hopes this move will help him get back in tip top shape. Were left Greece a year ago and joined Leopards, but his tenure there was on and off where he had been the subject of off-field scrutiny.
“At this time I am focused and I really want to get back into shape. I have found a club which I believe suites me and for the next six months, I will give my all and do my best for the team to help me get back on top,” Were told MichezoAfrika from his base in Athens where the club is based.
“I have trained well so far and I can’t wait for a chance to play so I get straight into work. Hopefully in the summer I get to scale the top leagues.”
Were has thanked AFC Leopards for his time at the club, saying he learnt a lot and hopes he will use that experience to perform well for his new club.
Egaleo play in the Greek Football League, the third tier of football in the European country. They are currently placed 10th in the standings with 18 points from 18 matches, only separated from relegation by goal difference.
They are only four points off bottom spot in the 14 team log, with eight rounds of matches left.
