Organisers move all Bitok International tournament matches indoors

Initially, the women's matches were scheduled for Kasarani while the men's category was to be staged at Nyayo Indoor Arena and the outdoor volleyball Court.

In a bid to raise the standards of the three-day event, organisers of the Bitok International Volleyball Tournament meant for Friday 7 April to Sunday 9 April have moved all matches indoors.

Initially, the women's matches were scheduled for Kasarani while the men's category was to be staged at Nyayo Indoor Arena and the outdoor volleyball Court.

The men's matches for group B and C remain at Nyayo while group A and D will do battle at Ulinzi Complex in the new development.

"After securing Ulinzi Complex indoor gymnasium, all the group A and D preliminary and quarter final matches will be played at the said facility.

This change will enable all group B and C matches to be played indoors, ensuring better playing conditions for all teams.

Please note that no matches will be played outdoors. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we believe this change will ultimately benefit all teams by providing a more secure and controlled environment for the matches," the notice from the organisers reads.

Bitok foundation has further urged teams to make the necessary adjustments to their schedules to accommodate the changes.

The event had previously been set to run in Kiminini, preceded by league matches on Friday but most league teams opposed the move.

Led by those preparing their teams for continental club championships, officials called for a change arguing that playing outdoors would interfere with their preparations for the club event set for May in Tunisia.
