After two outings, Shujaa occupies ninth position in the standings with 11 points, following a tenth-place finish in Dubai and a seventh-place finish in Cape Town.
Vincent Onyala will make his return to the Kenya Sevens team after a five-month absence, as he’s included in the squad for the Perth Sevens from January 24-26, 2025. Onyala, who co-captained Kenya at the Paris 2024 Olympics, has not played since the event due to contractual issues with the Kenya Rugby Union, but has resolved the matter in time for this tournament.
He’ll be joined by experienced players Tony Omondi and Brian Tanga, who also return after missing earlier legs of the 2025 season. Omondi had a brief absence due to contractual disputes, while Tanga is set for his first appearance this season.
Co-captains George Ooro and Samuel Asati will lead the squad, alongside players Kevin Wekesa, Patrick Odongo, William Mwanji, Dennis Abukuse, Nygel Amaitsa, Festus Shiasi, Ben Salem, and Floyd Wabwire.
The coach Kevin Wambua squad will open their Perth campaign on January 24 at 6:00 AM EAT against New Zealand, followed by a clash with Fiji at 10:59 AM EAT. On January 25, they face Uruguay at 7:00 AM EAT. Further fixtures will depend on their pool results.
