Only one Pro asHarambee Stars gets ready for Ghana
Zambia based keeper Ian Otieno is the only foreign based player to check in to camp as Harambee Stars begin preparations for Saturday’s 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Ghana at the Kasarani Stadium.
Otieno who turns out for Lusaka based side Red Arrows leads a squad of 20 local based players who will start training this evening at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies. Other foreign based players are expected to report on Tuesday morning and by Wednesday, head coach Sebastien Migne expects a full squad in training.
The Gor Mahia duo of Boniface Oluoch and George Odhiambo as well as Kakamega Homeboyz’s Allan Wanga are the only one yet to report to training with Gor boss Kerr on Sunday saying Odhiambo is injured.
The team had its first training session on Monday evening at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies.
There is still a concern on whether or not captain Victor Wanyama will be part of the squad as he has just returned from injury and made it to Tottenham Hotspur’s bench on Sunday in their 2-1 loss against Watford.
The Zambian legion that includes Zesco United trio of David Owino, Jesse Were and teddy Akumu as well as Buildcon’s Clifton Miheso are expected in on Monday night and will be part of the Tuesday morning session.
