Ongare's defeat, which comes hot on the heels of Nick Okoth's defeat on Saturday now leaves two Kenyan boxers in Olympic contention, namely heavyweight Elly Ajowi, and welterweight Elizabeth Akinyi.

Christina Ongare's Olympic campaign ended when she lost to Irish Magno of the Philipines in their women's flyweight division round of 32 clash at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Ongare fell to a 5-0 unanimous decision against the Filipina who dominated right from the opening bell , catching Ongare several times with several combinations.

Ongare came out more aggressive in the second round, taggin Magno with a right hook and an uppercut, but the Filipina more than held her own and again got the nod of all five judges for another clean 10-9 sweep.

Both fighters didn't let up in the final round as they exchanged combinations, but again it was Magno who came out on top and was even awarded a 10-8 round by one of the judges.
