Ombok and his closest rival Nkodia Kynd Gaetan of the Republic of Congo were tied  5-5 after the first round of voting before Ombok emerged victorious in the tie breaking second round.

Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) President Anthony Ombok “Jamal” is the new Africa Zone 3 Chairman following a closely contested election this past weekend.

Ombok and his closest rival Nkodia Kynd Gaetan of the Republic of Congo were tied  5-5 after the first round of voting before Ombok emerged victorious in the tie breaking second round. 

He takes over from interim Africa Boxing Confederation President Betrand Mendunga of Cameroon. 


Commenting after his election victory, Ombok said, ““I will work closely with Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) President Mr Betrand Mendunga and IBA President Mr Umar Kremlev to ensure that we provide boxing equipment to all federation members of the zone as well as organize courses for coaches, referees & judges. 

“This will go a long way to develop our beloved sport in the zone and with cooperation of all the federations I’m confident we are going to succeed together as zone 3. Thank you all, God bless you and God bless Africa zone 3, ” he concluded.

Ombok took over as BFK President in 2019 from John Kameta.
