Omalla: We have depth, focus and determination
Telkom Orange team captain Betsy Omalla has expressed confidence in her team mates saying everyone in camp is focused to successfully defend the African hockey title. The unrivaled Kenyan champions, Telkom, will be heading to Kampala Uganda on Thursday in time for the competition that starts on 11th January at the Lugogo grounds.
According to Omalla, the team has good depth, is technically endowed and has received the support needed to facilitate their title defense in Kampala, “We have trained well and everyone feels fit enough to put up with the resistance that we expect against some of the mature teams in Africa.” She says.
“Being a champion is one thing but maintaining that top spot needs a lot of focus, discipline, hard work and determination. Everyone in camp is in a good mood and the players have put in their best in order to rake in good results.” She adds.
“In such a tournament there is no room for error and we will approach it with caution and the best tactical approach needed because everyone will be coming in hot on us. We have a deep squad where everyone can play at any time when called upon, so whoever will be given the role by the coach I am sure they will deliver.”
“Above all we call on Kenyans to continue supporting us even if it is remotely and more so to keep us in prayers for journey mercies as well us for good results.” She concludes.
Telkom will on Wednesday meet their sponsors at the Orange headquarters in Nairobi where they are expected to receive the trophy and cheque from their parent company ahead of their Thursday departure.
