Benson Omala
Gor Mahia's most dangerous man and Harambee Stars forward Benson Omala is set to join Algerian side JS Saoura on a six-month loan deal.
Omala is the current leading scorer in the league with nine goals and came in second in the title race last season, where he managed 26 goals.
He missed the 'Golden Boot' by a goal as former Kenya Police striker Elvis Rupia clinched it following the hot-goal scoring streak he was on the final rounds of the season.
Omala's consistent goal scoring record saw him linked with a move to another Algerian side USM Alger last month but Gor rubbished the links as rumours.
However, K'Ogalo are most likely set to lose their most valuable asset after apparently agreeing to the offer tabled by Saoura.
According to sources, Gor stands to pocket 3.3 million shillings from the deal with Omala getting a 1.3 million shillings in salary.
Further, Omala will be provided with a car, house, medical insurance and match bonuses as per the standard club rates.
If the deal sails through, it will be the second time Gor will be loaning the forward to foreign clubs.
Gor sent Omala on loan to Swedish second tier club Linkoping City but returned to Kenya after just three months.
It was reported that the Swedish club attempted to remould him into a right back something that didn't sit well with the former national U20 team striker.
Omala's career has been on the rise since his days at Kisumu Day High School as he made his Kenyan Premier League bow when he was still a student at the institution.
Omala made history after he was named the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya's (SJAK)December Player of the Month in 2019 becoming the youngest recipient of the gong.
He was feted for scoring five goals in the month and becoming the first Western Stima player to score a hat-trick in the top flight.
Omala made his U20 team debut the following year following his move to Gor and progressed to the U23 team in 2021, featuring in the CECAFA tournament.
He earned his first minutes in the senior national team in November last year, coming off the bench and scoring in Harambee Stars 5-0 win over Seychelles in a 2026 World Cup qualifier played in Ivory Coast.
