Olunga bags Mansour Muftah Top Scorer Award

It is so near yet so far for Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga who has again lost the QNB Stars League Best Player/MVP award. Yousef Msakni (Al Arabi) was crowned the best player at a ceremony hosted at the Qatar National Convention Center in Education City on Saturday, May 13, 2023. 

Olunga has been the main star in Al Duhail's treble win this season.He led the charges to ensure Al Duhail emerged as the  Ooredoo Cup winner, Qatar Cup winner and  Qatar Stars League winner. Expectations were high that he would bag the coveted MVP prize.

In his second season in Qatar, Olunga was the top scorer in the three competitions namely Qatar Stars League Top Scorer (22 goals )  Ooredoo Cup Top Scorer (10 goals ) and  Qatar Cup Top Scorer (2 goals).

In his last outing for Al Duhail, Olunga bagged four goals against Al Shamal to guarantee his club the league title and also set himself apart in the golden boot race.This guaranteed him the Mansour Muftah Award for Top Scorer of 2022-2023 season.

Younes Ali (Al Arabi) beat Al Duhail Coach Hernan Crespo for the Best Coach award .

Last season, Olunga also lost the coveted title that time to Akram Afif but still got a consolation with the golden boot award after netting 24 goals.
