The 38 year old Okoth who featured for Kenya at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing matched his opponent toe to toe, blow for blow but was unfortunately edged out by the Mongolian who managed to get the nod from three judges who scored 30-27,29-28 and 29-28 against the two judges who scored 29-28, 29-28 for Okoth. 

Nick Okoth exited the boxing tournament at the Tokyo Olympics with a 3-2 loss to Mongolian Erdenebat Tsendbaatar in the featherweight round of 32 featherwight action on Saturday 24 July 2021.

With Okoth's elimination, Kenyan hopes in boxing lay on the shoulders of Heavyweight Elly Ajowi, Featherweight Christine Ongare and Welterweight Elizabeth Akinyi.
