Beldine becomes the second female coach in history to manage a Kenyan Premier League after Talanta’s Jacklyne Juma who also took charge earlier this season.
Maurice Ojwang’ scored late in extra time to secure a 2 – 1 victory for KCB as they defeated Talanta FC in the FKF Premier League Match played on 22nd November, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.
The league leaders were the first to break the deadlock in the 18th minute when Francis Kahiro combined beautifully with James Kinyanjui before slotting the ball home, increasing his tally to six goals in the league.
The second half was uneventful with both teams struggling to break each others defense, with KCB goalkeeper, Faruk Shikhalo, making crucial saves to deny Talanta an equalizer. In the 90th minute of the game, Emmanuel Osoro pulled the scores level for Talanta.
KCB responded immediately, applying pressure to regain the lead and it paid off in stoppage time when Ojwang’ headed in a cross from Kinyanjui’s set piece.
With the win, KCB extend their lead on top with 20 points, five more than second placed Mara Sugar. The loss adds to Talanta’s misery as they remain second-bottom with six points, having only won one game this season.
Later, Kenya Police FC were held to a goalless draw by Kariobangi Sharks at the same venue. Police who played their first match under interim coach Beldine Odemba, just one day after her appointment, looked lost with the man of the match, Andreas Odhiambo, bossing around midfield on their players.
