Kenya’s Simon Ngige settled for third place at the Uganda Open on Saturday 29 October 2022.

The best performing Kenyan at this tournament, Ngige produced a second consecutive under par round to claim a place on the podium, having shot a 67 on Friday before carding home a 71 on Saturday to finish on an overall score of 287.

His fellow Kenyans - Greg Snow (4th), Samuel Njoroge (T5), David Wakhu (T9) and Dismas Indiza (T9) ensured Kenya maintained a strong presence in the top 10.

The tournament at the Lake Victoria Serena Resort was won by Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi who lead throughout the tournament, eventually winning the top prize of Ksh 3.5 million after carding a one under 71 to win the title for the second time on his third attempt following his triumphant debut in 2019.

Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo settled for second place, failing to trouble the dominant Chinhoi. Rugumayo started well but was let down by a back nine collapse that saw four consecutive bogeys kill whatever chances he had of trouble Chinhoi.
