The loss, coming at a time when the bankers are readying for their title defense of the CAVB Club Championships set for Tunisia in May
KCB women's volleyball team lost by straight sets to Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league bronze medalists Prisons Kenya in the weekend's second leg action staged at Nyayo.
The loss, coming at a time when the bankers are readying for their title defense of the CAVB Club Championships set for Tunisia in May, has caused head coach Japeth Munala to worry.
While he admits that Prisons played very well, he is also quick to point out that his team's chemistry was wanting, adding that complacency could have played a part in the loss.
"Poor services and our defense on the net were the main undoing against Prisons. They came prepared for the match, played very well and we were unable to respond.
Before the match, I had warned my players against taking this match lightly simply because we beat Prisons in our last meeting during the playoffs but they clearly were complacent.
The loss has exposed our teams weakness with chemistry a major issue. We have, however, set up a team building event on the weekend that will help us heal from this loss and talk over our misgivings in that loss and in the season," coach Munala explained.
This was KCB's first loss of the season and Munala will be keen to bounce back and restore the team's self belief ahead of the club championship and the league's third leg set for Kiminini next month.
His opposite number, Josp Barasa express delight in the team's performance saying that this is a clear indication that the team is getting better, after struggling in the playoffs played in January.
