Prisons Kenya's title-winning coach and former Kenya international Denis Mokua joins the men's team coaching team as an assistant alongside Elisha Aliwa
Coach Gideon Tarus and Japheth Munala will be in charge of Wafalme Stars and Malkia Strikers for the upcoming men's and women's national team assignments respectively.
In a statement released by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on upcoming international events, the two teams' coaching staff has been reduced to three.
The two teams are set to take part in the East African Community Games slated for Rwanda next month. The Team Manager for both sides will be John Odhiambo.
Prisons Kenya's title-winning coach and former Kenya international Denis Mokua joins the men's team coaching team as an assistant alongside Elisha Aliwa who was part of the bench that coached the team recently at the Africa Cup that served as a qualifier to the World Championship.
Mokua, taking over the Prisons team from renowned tactician David 'Demosh' Lung'aho, managed to break the title jinx and deliver for the warders who had lost to General Service Unit (GSU) since their last title in 2016. Both Lung'aho and Rwanda-based Sammy Mulinge have been dropped from the bench.
In the women's team, Munala who has been an assistant coach to Paul Bitok and the Brazilian contingent that has been in charge of Malkia Strikers will be deputised by Josp Barasa and Paul Gitau.
The beach volleyball teams will be coached by Sally Wanjala and Patrick Owino.
"We believe that these appointments will contribute to the success of our teams in these upcoming competitions. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to volleyball in Kenya, and we look forward to achieving great results in both the East African Community Games and the Beach Volleyball events," Secretary General Ismail Chege wrote.
