Muhona's Squad Dominates KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Tanzania

The next leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour returns to Kenya at the Nyanza Golf Club on August 17, 2024.

Peter Mlewi, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Muhona, Khadija Seleman, J. Ndungutse, and Hawa Wanyeche returned a combined score of 202 points to be crowned the overall winners of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the par 72 Lugalo Golf Club in Tanzania on Saturday evening.

Pte K. Shemndolwa, playing off a handicap of 9, returned an excellent 37 points after a countback to emerge as the Division A winner. Michael Masawe, with a handicap of 3, also carded 37 points but came in second after the countback.

“I am very excited with our win here today; it is a testament to our dedication to excellence in golf. We had an incredible team of winners who were buzzing to clinch this edition here in Tanzania, and I could not be prouder of them for their prowess. Looking forward to the grand finale, hopefully, we will win it,” said Muhona.

In the highly competitive Division B, Muzai Mkumba, playing off a handicap of 15, returned 34 points to win the category after a countback, while Captain Msechu came in second with 34 points after a countback.

Division C saw H. Kindindi, with a handicap of 24, card 38 points to be named the winner. Alfred Woiso, also with a handicap of 24, returned 32 points to take second place, while Dr. G. Severin, another handicap 24 golfer, was a distant third with 32 points.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, KCB Group CEO Paul Russo said: “We are living up to the promise we made last year to make the KCB East Africa Golf Tour bigger and better. Our involvement in the sport within the East African region is aimed at fostering a golfing culture and making the sport accessible to all.”

 

Hawa Wanyeche claimed the longest drive award in the women’s category, while Pte John Hiza scooped it in the men’s category. Pte Theresia Mombe was nearest to the pin.

In the staff category, Masika Mukule, playing off a handicap of 19, returned 20 points to win after a countback, while KCB Group CEO Paul Russo, with a handicap of 26, returned 20 points to be crowned second after a countback.
