A squad of 12 players under the tutelage of Cliff Owuor is in Hammamet, Tunisia for the first window of qualifiers where they start their battle for glory on 23 February.
The last time the national men’s basketball team qualified for the continent's premier event it was Tyler Ongwae's well taken jump shot with one second to 11 that propelled Morans to a historic 74-73 victory over Angola to book a first ticket to the FIBA Afrobasket in 28 years.
As the team heads back to the Qualifiers they miss the swrvices of such key players, Ongwae having retired from the team.
The squad is captained by Victor Bosire who is assisted by Australia-based Desmond Owili and France-based Joel Awich. Derrick Ogechi completes the international legion.
Morans have a date with Tunisia on 23 February before taking on Angola and Guinea on 24 and 25 February respectively.
