MOFA Edges Nairobi United to Secure Second Win

MOFA finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with forward Abdallah Swalleh finding the net.

Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) secured their second win in the National Super League new session, sinking Nairobi United’s hope of going top of the league after a 1 – 0 victory at the MPESA Foundation on 26th October, 2024.

Nairobi United started the game well, controlling possession and building from the back. They dominated play and were the first team to get a corner kick in 11th minute with the first half lacking significant threats. Just before halftime, play was temporarily stopped after MOFA goalkeeper Stephen Otieno landed awkwardly on the ground while going for the ball. He was replaced with Eric Ongiri and both teams went for the break with the score still 0 – 0.

The hosts nearly took the lead in the 55th minute when forward Duncan Omalla was put through on goal, but a quick reaction from Ongiri saved the day, deflecting the ball out for a corner kick. MOFA finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with forward Abdallah Swalleh finding the net.

Despite increased pressure from Nairobi United as they sought for an equalizer, MOFA’s defense led by captain Joseph Bate successfully held on to the win. With the win, MOFA now moves to the top half of the table with nine points.
