Migne set to miss up to 13 Gor, AFC players for friendlies
Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne will miss up to 13 Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards players for the upcoming friendly matches against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea.
Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne will miss up to 13 Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards players for the upcoming friendly matches against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea. Seven Gor Mahia and three AFC Leopards players make up the 24 man squad while three more AFC players are on the standby list.
This is after the Kenyan Premier League management refused to shelve this weekend’s games with Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards set to clash in the Mashemeji Derby on Saturday in Kakamega.
“The game is outside the FIFA calendar so it is not a must for us to shelve those games. I really think the coach should plan with the squad that is available and probably rotate the squad for the two games,” KPL Chief Jack Oguda said.
FKF had requested the league managers to shelve this weekend’s games to allow Migne assess his squad over the two friendly matches, but the coach now stands to field weak sides if KPL do not agree to postponement of fixtures.
It is also expected that the other clubs will hold on to their players with the squad expected to start trickling into camp on Monday morning.
The squad of 24 has five foreign based players which includes Captain Victor Wanyama and his elder brother MacDonald Mariga who have just finished their seasons abroad.
