Michael Mcharo-The rise of a future star
Michael Bong’osa Mcharo could be only 10 years old but his future as a magnificent sportsman and scholar is written all over his forehead. He is a member of the Nairobi Junior league youth development program and holds hope of becoming a professional soccer star and business man in the next few years.
He boasts of support from his parents Leonard and Emily Mcharo who have walked with him every step of his sports ambition from the age of four years when he started poking soccer balls all around their Kilimani estate home. Before settling himself up with an option of concentrating in soccer, his parents had tried out other options in a bid to identify their son’s strongest games. With the help of his parents, Michael has also had a shot at playing basketball and golf though he believes his dream achievement greatly lies in soccer.
“I want to be a super star in future like Ronaldo or Messi. These guys and their skills inspire me each day I practice and I see with hard work and determination nothing can stop my ambition.” He said.
Apart from soccer, Michael aspires to achieve high academically and he takes his school performance at the Logos primary school in Nairobi with all the urgency it requires. His vision is to join a reputable national secondary school after his primary certificate with a vision of becoming a business man and farmer besides his soccer.
“I want to be a business man in future but will work hard to go to university so I can study physics or chemistry just for the sake of understanding the world around me.”
On his national soccer team allegiance, Michael is never amused by the team’s poor performance as he notes the ever wrangling officials are the ones behind the team’s dismal demonstration.
“I hate Harambee Stars with a great passion not because of the players but because of the greedy officials who have always brought down the game of soccer in this country. They only care about their welfare and forget about the players. I think we need to change that name from Harambee stars to a different thing.” Said Michael.
Michael admires the skills of Real Madrid’s Christiano Ronaldo and ‘Chicarito’ Javier Harnandez of Manchester United his favorite English premier league club.
