Mboya, Abubakar Join Kibera Women, Nafula heads to Macedonia

League MVP Lydia Akoth has already completed a move to Yanga Princess, while midfielder Christine Nafula is headed to North Macedonian club Tiverija Strumika Women’s FC.

With the Kenya Women’s Football transfer window having opened on January 17th, several Kenyan players and teams have already made moves. Kenya Police Bullets FC are set to lose two key players. 

League MVP Lydia Akoth has already completed a move to Yanga Princess, while midfielder Christine Nafula is headed to North Macedonian club Tiverija Strumika Women’s FC. This adds to Nafula’s European moves as she previously played for Gpo Kastoria in Greece and If Dalhem in Sweden.

Current Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) leaders Kibera Soccer Women have also strengthened their squad, signing National Super League top scorer Faith Mboya from Sunderland Samba and former Harambee Starlets U20 midfielder Medina Abubakar, the captain of Uweza Soccer Women. Mboya, who has been in excellent form, scoring 15 goals in the first half of the season, featured in a friendly againts Mathare Women FC alongside Medina, where she scored the only goal of the match.

 

Meanwhile, Ulinzi Starlets are set to lose right-back Eunice Mwangi, who recently announced her departure from the club. Mwangi, who is reportedly on Kibera Soccer’s radar, is also said to have attracted interest from clubs in Europe and North Africa.
