Mathare United emerged victorious with a 3 – 0 over their arch rivals Kayole Starlets in the much anticipated Komarock derby of the FKF Women National Super League at the Dandora Stadium on 26th October, 2024.

This marked Mathare’s first win of the season, thanks to three first half goals from Jerrine Athiambo ‘Aguero’ and Idda Adhiambo. Kayole started the match strong, dominating the play throughout the early minutes. They nearly took the lead in the 14th minute but Esther Wanjiru’s shot went wide.

Just four minutes later, midfielder Nuru Hadima unleashed a superb long range shot but Mathare’s keeper punched it over the bar. Kayole continued their dominance and were back again in the 22nd minute with Lavyne Achola’s shot from the edge of the box hitting the crossbar.

Despite their early struggles, Mathare broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Jerrine Athiambo netted their first goal of the season. She followed up with a second goal in the 33rd minute before winger Iddah Adhiambo added a third just before halftime, making it 3 – 0 in favor of the hosts.

Kayole Coach, Mary Adhiambo, made two substitutions early in the second half, bring on forward Chris Kach and Mellisa Vivian in place of Drailer Salome and Esther Wanjiru in an attempt to try and reduce the deficit. However, Mathare held firm, maintaining their 3 – 0 lead until the final whistle.
