The victory moves Bandari to 36 points, just three behind Kayole, who will play Makolanders on Sunday.

Mathare Women United FC’s pursuit of promotion to top-flight football next season suffered a setback as they lost 1-0 to Bandari Queens at home in the Women’s National Super League Zone A encounter on Saturday.

Mathare, who were third on the log behind Bandari and Kayole Starlets, were eager to win this match and overtake Bandari into second place. However, their hopes were dashed when Bandari scored a lone goal through Happy Mutta in the 73rd minute.

The match was marred by controversy, with Mathare initially locking out fans from the stadium in the first half, claiming that supporters of their archrivals and league leaders, Kayole Starlets, had shown up to back Bandari. Fans were eventually allowed into the stadium during the second half.

In other NSL encounters, Barcelona SC thrashed GASPO Women 6-1, while Sunderland Samba’s poor run continued with a 2-0 loss to Hildana Queens.

The victory moves Bandari to 36 points, just three behind Kayole, who will play Makolanders on Sunday. Mathare remains in third place, while Barcelona SC leapfrogs Sunderland Samba and Hildana Queens into fourth.
