Matano optimistic Tusker will finish in respectable position
Though he was coy on where exactly he sees his side finish at the end of the season, ‘miracle worker’ Robert Matano is confident that his side will finish the season in a respectable position after helping them rise from a horrendous start to the campaign.
Tusker have now risen up to fifth in the standings and Matano is pleased with how the squad has transformed and started picking results.
“They have realized they have to play for themselves and the club and now the results have been good. We have improved from when I came here and I know when the season ends we will be somewhere good. I cannot say it now but it is in my heart and in my soul where we will finish at the end of the season,” the tactician said.
Tusker bounced back from their loss against Bandari to beat Zoo Kericho at the Ruaraka Complex over the weekend, a result that cemented their hold of fifth place.
Matano was pleased with the result and has now only urged for consistency from his charges.
“We played really well especially in the second half. In the first half we couldn’t keep the ball but after doing some changes in the second half we were better. I only hope that these boys can be consistent because that is the only way we can stay on top,” further added the tactician.
Tusker are still in the running for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Shield and Matano hopes he can keep the run on and clinch the title.
