The Chicago Marathon is set to happen as from 13th October, 2024 and will take place in Illinois, Chicago, USA. This will be the 46th edition of the competition
World Half Marathon Silver and Bronze medalist Mary Ngugi Cooper has announced that she will not be particpating in the upcoming Chicago Marathon. The Kenyan athlete took to her social to announce that she won’t be taking part due to injury.
“Update, no @chimarathon for me ☹. Unfortunately, I picked up a small injury that will mean I won’t be heading to Chicago this year. I didn’t want to go if I wasn’t at my best, so my team and I decided to scratch from this year’s event.” She wrote.
“Thanks to everyone who supported me on this journey and I wish everyone on the start line all the best. See you again real soon ”
Ngugi is not only a one-time silver and bronze medalist in the World Half Marathon but also a World U20 Championship bronze medalist and African U20 champion.
