Ranked 20th globally, Kenya had a challenging start to their campaign, losing in straight sets to Brazil on Monday, August 29th.

Kenya’s Malkia Strikers return to the court tonight, Wednesday, August 31st, in their quest for their first-ever set win at an Olympic event as they face off against Poland.

Ranked 20th globally, Kenya had a challenging start to their campaign, losing in straight sets to Brazil on Monday, August 29th. The upcoming match against Poland will be another tough test for the team, coached by Japheth Munala.

With eight rookies making their Olympic debut, Kenya is competing in a formidable Pool B that includes Brazil, Poland, and Japan—three of the world's top-ranked teams. This year’s tournament format features three pools, each consisting of four teams.

Kenya qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics as the highest-ranked African team in the FIVB World Ranking at the end of the Olympic qualification process. This will mark Kenya’s fourth appearance at the Olympic Games, following their participation in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Tokyo 2020.

Poland, also making their fourth Olympic appearance, were among the first Olympic medalists in women’s volleyball, securing bronze in both Tokyo 1964 and Mexico 1968. After a long hiatus, they returned to the Olympic stage in Beijing 2008 and are now seeking to reclaim their place among the sport's elite.
