Malkia Strikers play Nigeria who finished fourth in pool B and are likely to meet hosts Cameroon in the semis should the two sides sail through to the semi finals.

National women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, will face off with Nigeria in the quarters at the ongoing CAVB African Nations Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The Luizomar de Moura-coached side finished top of group B after going on an unbeaten streak of five matches in the group stage.

Up against Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Morocco and Lesotho, the Kenyan side lost just one set to the North Africans, with the other four ending in straight-sets.

In their final match and against debutants Burkina Faso, coach Luizomar handed the second team a playing opportunity and they went on to prove the team's depth as they won easily.

"It was important for us to finish top of this group, without dropping any points and it is a job well done.

We played Lesotho in the final match and they are not a bad side. They have an idea of volleyball but were only playing at their level and so were the other teams.

As we move to the quarters we are well aware it will be a different ball game but our focus and target remain the same, to win the championship and qualify for Olympics and we are ready," second-choice libero Leonida Kasaya said after the final group match.

The teams will have a rest day on Monday before action resumes on Tuesday for the knock-out stages.
