Malkia Strikers fall to Cameroon in continental final

Despite the defeat, Kenya will join Cameroon as Africa's representatives at the FIVB 2022 World Championships in Poland and Netherlands.

Kenya failed in its quest for a 10th title, going down 3-1 to defending champions Cameroon in the final of the CAVB Women's African Nations Championship in Kigali, Rwanda on Sunday 19 September 2021.

The Cameroonians kept the title for the third time in a row, adding to titles won in 2017 and 2019 in sets of 25-2125-23,15-25 and 25-23 to do the double over the Malkia Strikers whom they had defeated 3-0 in last Sunday's opening fixture in Pool B.

Despite the defeat, Kenya will join Cameroon as Africa's representatives at the FIVB 2022 World Championships in Poland and Netherlands.

Kenyan players Gladys Ekaru, Mercy Moim and Sharon Chepchumba were awarded the best blocker, best receiver and best attacker for their performances throughout the continental showpiece.
