Malkia Strikers brace for World Championship opener against hosts Netherlands
The Malkia Strikers will be up against their Pool A opponents for the third time since 2019, having lost both encounters 0-3, the first defeat coming during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers when they fell in sets of 17-25, 10-25 and 10-25 before going down in sets of 12-25, 19-25 and 17-25 during the FIVB World Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

The side, under the tutelage of Paul Bitok and Brazilian Luizomar de Moura have appeared in six previous tournaments, registering just the one win at the 2018 championships, a straight sets result over Kazakhstan.
