Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) and the National Olympic Committee Of Kenya (NOC-K) on Monday 19 June officially unveiled the 20-person Malkia Strikers squad set for action in July and August.

The team begins training on 20 June at Nyayo Stadium with the non-residential camp meant to help whittle down the team to 16 ahead of travel to Morocco.

Malkia Strikers who are chasing both Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and Paris Olympics qualification with the two upcoming competitions are set to travel to Morocco for a month-long camp.

The FIVB-sponsored camp in the North African country will prepare the squad for the FIVB Challenger Cup in France from July 27-30, where they aim to secure points for global ranking while also looking to qualify for the prestigious VNL.

After the Challenger Cup, the team will stay for more preparations before travelling to Cameroon on 4 August for the 2023 Africa Nations Cup, taking place from August 6-16.

Malkia Strikers will strive to reclaim the title they lost to Cameroon in 2019 while also accumulating points that are crucial for the team's qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Africa has only one slot available for Olympic qualification.

"We have the Moroccan Visas ready but since the team cannot leave without documentation for travelling to France and Cameroon after, we are awaiting that clearance before the team departs.

They will be at Nyayo, with training fully funded by NOC-K up until next week when we expect everything to be ready for the trip.

These are crucial competitions as we look to make back-to-back appearances at the Olympics Games and we want to accord the players the best possible preparations ahead of these two events," offered acting KVF president Charles Nyaberi who was flagged by NOC-K SG Francis Mutuku and KVF treasurer Kenneth Tonui.

The team will be under the tutelage of Paul Bitok and Japheth Munala in Nairobi with six Brazilian coaches expected to link up with the squad in Morocco.
