Malkia Strikers began their CAVB Women's African Nations Championship campaign with a loss to defending champions Cameroon in Pool B action at the Kigali Arena on Sunday 12 September 2021.

The Cameroonians were businesslike, cruising to a 3-0 win over the nine time champions in sets of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-19 in a clash that the Malkia Strikers simply couldn't garner a response.

The nine team tournament sees teams split in two pools. Kenya,Cameroon, Tunisia, DR Congo and Burundi make up Pool B with hosts Rwanda, Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria make up Pool A.
