Lemngole Wins Lausanne Diamond League Steeplechase

Kenya’s Doris Lemngole continued her impressive rise with a commanding win in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday, August 20.

The 23-year-old clocked 9:16.36 to beat Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew (9:20.39) and USA’s Olivia Markezich (9:20.73), sealing one of the biggest victories of her career ahead of her World Championships debut.

Currently studying and competing for the University of Alabama, Lemngole displayed patience and maturity in her Diamond League debut, taking control midway through the race and never looking back.

Her triumph comes shortly after finishing second at the Kenyan trials to secure a World Championships slot alongside Olympic medalist Faith Cherotich and NCAA champion Pamela Kosgei.

Lemngole has also built an impressive U.S. collegiate record, winning NCAA titles in cross country, indoor 5000m, and outdoor steeplechase.
