KVF term extended by 90 days

KVF term extended by 90 days

Further to their ruling, the SDT ruled that all branches are to hold their elections within that timeline.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) current office tenure has been extended by 90 days in the latest development of the election debacle.

The federation was set to hold its National Executive Committee (NEC) elections on Saturday 29 April 2023 but a section of stakeholders went to court terming the intended exercise unlawful.

In a ruling made on Friday 28 April, the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) ruled that the term off the current office, now led by Charles Nyaberi following the death of long-serving chair Waithaka Kioni, is extended for 90 days.

Further to their ruling, the SDT ruled that all branches are to hold their elections within that timeline.

In the case taken to court by Ibrahim Efumbi and 12 others, the claimants argued that only four counties had met the legal requirements to participate in the election of the NEC.

The KVF constitution requires officials elected from 47 counties participate in the election of the national office of the sport.

Further, the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) and their primary school counterparts have been allowed to participate in the election in the ruling.
