KSSSA Athletics championships moved to Kasarani

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association athletics championships have been moved to the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani track from the initial scheduled Thika municipal stadium. The games had to be moved from Thika given that the pitch is waterlogged due to the torrential rains therefore unfit to be used for the championships set to start on Thursday to Friday.

KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi confirming the same said they have looked for  a nearby facility close to the hosting Mangu school to no avail.

“We opted to go to Muranga unfortunately the track is not available and Thika can’t be used used due to the state of the track. We have therefore resolved to take the athletics event to Kasarani.”  He said.

The events scheduled for tomorrow include Shot put finals, 3,000m steeplechase, 3,000m and 5000m all women finals.  Others will be both men and women 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m, all heats
