We are almost sure Kwanthanze and other usual suspects will also sail through to the nationals and we are ready because we have suffered at the hands of Kwanthanze and other teams for a long time
Soweto Academy will yet again fly Nairobi region’s girls' volleyball flag at the national games slated for 7 to 12 August at Kakamega School.
The boys category will have Ruthimitu, who made their debut at the national games last year making a return.
The two sides, on Tuesday retained their Nairobi region secondary schools volleyball titles following a straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-13) win over Brown Hill for Soweto while Ruthimitu defeated Hospital Hill 3-1(25-22, 26-28, 25-21, 25-19).
"I am happy we have defended our title and everything has worked according to our plans. We now go back to the field to prepare for the next stage which is very crucial. Our target is to win the national title this year.
We are almost sure Kwanthanze and other usual suspects will also sail through to the nationals and we are ready because we have suffered at the hands of Kwanthanze and other teams for a long time at the nationals," Soweto head coach Wycliffe Wafula told Citizen digital.
Ruthimitu head coach Gideon Njine hailed his charges for the spectacular performance.
"The game was tough but we gave everything and won. We want to go to the nationals and win the title. We will look to improve our blocks so that we compete at the highest level and emerge the national Champions," Njine said.
