KSSA Nationals: Wiyeta to face Kobala in girls finals
Wiyeta and Kobala will face off in the girls' football final at the National Secondary School Games after winning their semifinal fixtures on Friday morning at the Machakos School.
Wiyeta, who only made the semis after St. John's were disqualified, pulled off a comprehensive 3-1 win over Nginda.
The Nzoia Region side signaled their intent, pumping in three first half goals through Joan Wanjala (8th minute), Lucy Nato (20th minute) and Judith Musimbi (22nd minute).
Nginda scored their consolation goal a minute after half time when Christine Gitau connected with a pass.
Wiyeta would effectively shut out Nginda, bossing the midfield as they held on for the result, keeping their hopes alive for a sixth national title.
Nancy Oiro's goal from a 13th minute penalty was the defining moment in the other semifinal between Kobala and the fancied Olympic. The result seeing Kobala prevail in what was a tense, tactical affair.
