Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya’s representatives in the qualifiers for this year’s Basketball Africa League (BAL) are in Madagascar for the first round of qualification which kicks off on Friday in Antananarivo.

The dockers will contest for two qualification slots from Group D alongside host team Club Omnisport de La Police Nationale, Djabal of Comoros, Vixens Foxes of Zimbabwe, Dekedaha of Somalia and Roche Bois Warriors of Mauritius.

They will start their campaign against Roche Bois on Friday, before playing Djabal on Saturday and hosts COSPN on Sunday.

The top two sides from the group will progress to the Elite 16 where teams will be divided into two groups of eight teams each. The top three from each of the groups qualify for the final tournament.

KPA are competing in the BAL for the second time, their debut was in 2021 where they progressed to the second round after topping their group, winning all their matches with the first round also played in Madagascar.

They however missed the second round of qualification by a whisker, finishing third with five points and failing to meet the top two on points difference. They however dished out a walkover in their first match after late arrival.
