Fireworks expected as these two sides clash

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) leagues return this weekend with several top-tier matches scheduled.

The highlight matches of the weekend in both the men's and women’s top-tier leagues will see holders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) take on Equity Bank sides, Dumas and Hawks.

KPA men are third on the log, after 9 matches, and are looking to return with a bang against a Dumas side that struggled at the start of the season but has since picked pace.

Dumas have also played 9 matches for 15 points, losing three matches so far. The Isaac Munywoki-coached side is in fourth place on the log, a point behind the defending champions KPA.

The two sides last met in the KBF 2022/23 league final series where Kiki’s side wom 3-1 to be crowned champions.

Meanwhile, the women’s clash has as much to offer as the men's event if not more as the two sides meet for the first time since clashing in the Africa Women’s Basketball League (AWBL) KPA winning 81-66.

Before heading to Egypt for the inaugural AWBL where they made history as the first Kenyan women’s side to reach a continental club final, KPA had played five matches to sit eighth on the log on 10 points while the bankers have played one more for 11 points, putting them in fifth place.

Other matches of the weekend will see Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks take on ABSA in the men’s top-tier league while Zetech Sparks host Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Lynx while Kenyatta University (K.U) Oryx welcome Nakuru-based Th3 Swish.
