Kenya's Dominic Korir broke Gebrekidan Abadi’s course record while holding off defending champion Tyler McCandless, 35, to win the Horsetooth Half Marathon in Fort Collins, Colorado in a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 51 seconds – just eight seconds ahead of McCandless.
This was Korir's second win, having first won it in 2019.
LawiLalang, 30, another Kenyan on the same Colorado Springs-based training team with Korir, was third in 1:07:40.
The 28 year old Korir pushed the pace from the outset, winning a cash bonus as the first runner to the top of Monster Hill – about 2.8km into the race – and never let up.
Korir boasts a personal best of 1:01.45 in the half marathon and 2:16.26 for the full marathon.
