Kisumu All Starlets emerged victorious in the Kisumu Derby, defeating KISPED Queens 2-0 in their FKF Women’s Premier League match at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Mamboleo, Kisumu, on Sunday.
The Starlets secured the win with two first-half goals from Faith Atieno and Jacinta Nyambok. KISPED applied pressure in the second half but their efforts were not enough to break down the Starlets’ defense.
Meanwhile, at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, 2023 champions Vihiga Queens dominated WADADIA with a 5-0 victory. Diana Otieno scored a brace, while Susan Muhonja, Ruth Khasoa and Maureen Ater each found the back of the net.
The win lifted Vihiga to second place with 20 points, just one point behind league leaders Kibera Soccer Women. Meanwhile, Kisumu All Starlets climbed to 8th place with 11 points, one point ahead of KISPED Queens.
