Kipyegon, the reigning Olympic and world champion, will head to New York for her final race of the season, hopeful of maintaining her unbeaten streak in the 1500 meters since 2021. In New York, she is poised to earn millions more if she clinches victory in her signature event during the women-only competition.
The Athlos event, the first of its kind, will feature elite athletes competing in the 100m, 100m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1,500m.
It has been organized by Alex Ohanian, who is Serena Williams and also co-founder of Reddit. According to Ohanian, the prize for the winners is Ksh7.7 million, with Ksh3.2 million for second place and Ksh1.2 million for third.
