Kipchoge Keino Classic receives Ksh 20 million boost from ABSA Bank

With the second leg of the World Athletics Continental Tour, the Kipchoge Keino Classic slated to take place at Kasarani on Saturday 18 September 2021, ABSA Bank has handed the event a boost with a Ksh 20 million sponsorship package.

ABSA CEO Jeremy Awori, speaking at the sponsorship ceremony in Nairobi on Monday 13 September 2021 said, “It is exciting to see Kenyan athletes do well and it is in this regard that we have partnered with Athletics Kenya for the Continental Tour. As a brand, we draw inspiration from our athletes and I believe the partnership will not only boost the event but also promote tourism through the event."

Athletics Kenya President, Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei said, "We are grateful to Absa for coming on board to sponsor this edition of the tour. We will have three categories; national, discretionary and core events. We welcome all athletes and officials who have confirmed participation in the event."

Athletes from at least 28 countries are expected to compete when the final meeting of this year’s Continental Tour Gold series is held at the Kasarani Stadium, which recently hosted the World Athletics U20 Championships.
