World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum alongside his predecessor Eliud Kipchoge headline the men's list.

Athletics Kenya has named it’s Provisional Marathon Team towards Paris 2024 Olympic Games next year through Competitions Director Mr. Mutwii.

Although AK has released a list of 10 men and 10 Women, the team will be scaled down to 5 in January, 3 to compete and 2 Reserves

"We considered the athletes' consistency, anti-doping requirements, discipline, willingness, and championship mentality and attitude." Mutwii is quoted as saying on Nation.

He also revealed that the selection committee was influenced by the athletes' accomplishments in major marathon races throughout the world, particularly the World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City).

Ruth Chepng'etich, the 2019 global marathon champion, defended her Nagoya Marathon title in March before finishing second in Chicago, Boston, and New York City Marathons.

Hellen Obiri, Rosemary Wanjiru, former marathon world record holder Brigid Kosgei, 2022 world marathon silver medalist Judith Jeptum Korir, and Sheila Chepkiruri have all been named.
