KHU postpones Butali Warriors versus Kenya Police clash

In the Women’s Hockey Premier League, Kenyatta University Titans search for the maiden win of the campaign yielded no fruits after losing 6-1 to last season’s second runner up Lakers at City Park.

The biggest fixture of the weekend in the Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League pitting Butali Warriors against Kenya Police did not take place as earlier planned.

The two giants were scheduled to square it out at City Park Stadium but the Union postponed the game to a later date after the rains rendered the playing surface unplayable.

The game was supposed to have kicked off at 6:00 pm.

Before the heavens fiercely opened in the evening, a number of matches had been played in the top, second and nationwide leagues.

The 2012 men’s champions Sikh Union made good use of home advantage to beat Wazalendo 3-2 at the Dashmesh Stadium.

Sikh’s Yuvraj Walmiki was in a class of his own as he scored all the three goals for the home side and as a result, the team registred the first win in the campaign.

Wazalendo scored through Griffin Okombe and Sutcliffe Usagi.

Titans who returned to the top league before the season began have a point to show for in the opening three rounds.

Lakers forward Alice Aoko was the star of the match as she scored thrice to inspire the Kisumu based club to the big win.

Aoko punished the students in the 13th,33rd and 43rd minutes of the game.

Ruth Netia,Auralia Atieno and Debra Achieng added the extras for Lakers

Monica Kitui scored the consolation goals for the subdued Titans.

In the women’s Super League, Kisumu Queens beat toppers Sliders 2-0 at City Park.

Elizabeth Oyoo and Sandra Jepkorir were on target for Kisumu.

The Technical University of Kenya beat Nakuru Sharks by a solitary goal in a men’s Super League tie played at the Impala grounds.

Graham Otieno was the hero of the game as his goal in the 39th minute was enough to guarantee his side maximum points.
