KHU in dire need of funds ahead of Cup of nations
Kenya Hockey Union has sent out a passionate appeal to sponsors to come on board to ensure the success of Africa Cup of nations that will be held in the country next month.
The union requires 40 million Kenya shillings to host the tournament for both men and women which will be held at the City Park Hockey stadium from September 26th to 5th October.
Vice chair person Elynah Shiveka has confirmed that the union has written several letters to corporates though feedback has been a bit slow.
“We are hoping for a positive response from the several corporates we have written to.We also wrote to the government about the same though they are yet to get give any response.The National Olympic Committee of Kenya NOC-K has promised to support us though we dont know their commitment yet.” said the Vice chair.
Champions South Africa and Egypt are among the seven men teams and six ladies teams that have confirmed participation.
The men teams include South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Namibia, Nigeria, Seychelles and host Kenya whereas the women teams comprise of South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya.
